I am experimenting with Winter tomatoes from Russia. In the Australian magazine '
Burkes Backyard' they are conducting a nationwide experiment with these winter toms and gave away a seeds with every issue. They are mostly from Russia and grow extremely well in the cold climate. So I have planted out the seeds in the seedling mix...will update on progress as I go. My only other seedling experiment never worked so I'm not hopeful!
Interestingly they put a safe colour dye on the seeds to distinguish between the varieties.
I planted these winter tomatoes from burke's backyard in punnets with pegs to match the colour codes BUT... I have misplaced the seed packet, and I don't know which color is which pant anymore.
ReplyDeleteCan you please tell me which colour goes with which tomato? Please?
Thanks
I've got the same problem. I misplaced the seed packet so now I have no idea which seeds are which. :(
ReplyDeleteOk I found an old a news agent with an old Magazine and grabbed the details off the seed packet:-
ReplyDeleteGreen: Siberia
Red: Russian Red
Blue: Giant tree Tomato
Yellow: Stupice
Hi there - Catchthatmountainview here! Thanks for updating on the list. I had no luck with the seedlings - but I have enlisted my mother - and they are looking great! Hope yours are too.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me where I can get some winter tomato seeds from? I missed the Burkes Backyard magazine promoting the seeds.
ReplyDeleteHi all, - Catchthatmountainview here! - I thought I would update this post. I would be interested to know if others had success or not with these tomatoes. While mine lasted for a long time - they never grew higher than about 20cm! Nothing happened. Then they died. :(
